On 26 September 2025, members of Die Junge Akademie will meet with members of the Junge Akademie | HAdW (Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities), the Junge Akademie | Mainz, the Junge Kolleg | BAdW (Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities) and the Young Academy Fellows of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg.
The topic of academic freedom will take centre stage. The participants will discuss current challenges and the responsibility of scientists in politically turbulent times.
Two panel discussions will address questions such as:
- What is academic freedom for - and for whom?
- How do political and social developments affect research, teaching and science communication?
- What responsibility do scientists bear when dealing with ‘difficult partners’? What good examples are there?
On Saturday, 27 September, Die Junge Akademie will be actively involved in the Academy Day 2025 on the topic of ‘Understanding each other - Together into the future’.
