Workshop "Free Scientific Research Under Threat"

Event

Starts on
14.10.25
Ends on
16.10.25

Buenos Aires
Argentinien

Event access: Internal

In the current international scenario, marked by increasing political polarization, free scientific research oftentimes finds itself challenged or under threat. This issue has led to the proliferation of policies that are contrary to free scientific research, which, together with media harassment, range from selective funding cuts to research in certain areas to drastic cuts to funding for the science and technology sector in general. In this regard, it should be noted that any local scientific community may face drastic cuts in funding for its activities, regardless of the country’s socio-economic status. This workshop seeks to openly explore different challenges and threats to scientific and academic freedom in an international setting, with the aim to jointly develop best practices on how to prevent, circumvent or deal with them.

The workshop will be held in a hybrid format, both in person in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and via Zoom.
