Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the most far-reaching technological developments of our time. The influence of this technology extends far beyond technical innovations - it is changing how people research, heal, communicate, learn and act politically. In view of this far-reaching dynamic, the annual meeting of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 2025 will be dedicated to the topic of AI in all its facets.

Members of Die Junge Akademie will also be contributing their expertise on the topic of artificial intelligence: Niki Kilbertus, a member of Die Junge Akademie since 2024, works at TU Munich and Helmholtz AI on topics including machine learning. Nadja Klein, member of Die Junge Akademie from 2000 to 2025, works on statistics and data science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

    • Summer Academy: "Resistant and Interdisciplinary – Ethnography as Epistemic Practice"

Ethnographic research has now found its way into many disciplines – and yet its epistemological premises, political implications and potential for resistance are often given too little consideration. The Summer Academy provides a forum for discussing ethnography as a contested epistemological practice within various disciplinary contexts.
