Working together in an interdisciplinary way
Die Junge Akademie is part of a growing global network, which it also actively shapes. Bilateral exchange at the international level is also becoming increasingly important.
Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA)
The Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) was founded in 2013 as the first bilateral young academy worldwide. AGYA promotes research cooperation between outstanding early-career scholars from all disciplines who are affiliated with a research institution in Germany or an Arab country. The academy offers its members the unique opportunity to carry out interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects at the interface of research, science policy and capacity building, and to expand their research portfolio and international networks through mobility grants in the Arab world and Germany.
Global Young Academy (GYA)
The aim of the Global Young Academy (GYA) is to engage in issues of global importance. It does this through its own conferences, working groups and projects. In addition, the GYA promotes the establishment of national young academies. Its website features a list of all young academies worldwide. Its members and alumni come from over 100 countries on all continents.

Israel Young Academy
For many years, Die Junge Akademie has been networking with the Israel Young Academy on an institutional, thematic and project-related basis – for example through an innovative event format:
AcadeMIX is a unique meeting format that aims to promote interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collaboration between participating academics from Israel and Germany. AcadeMIX is a joint project of the Israel Young Academy and Die Junge Akademie and is funded by the German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development. The events take place alternately in Israel and Germany.

This cooperation aims to connect outstanding young scientists from both countries, promote interdisciplinary dialogue, and develop shared perspectives on scientific issues and societal challenges.
As part of this exchange, workshops and delegation visits take place, each focusing on different topics. The events provide an opportunity to get to know each other, engage in in-depth professional exchange and develop joint projects.
The cooperation with YKAST is part of Die Junge Akademie's international engagement and makes an important contribution to the global networking of young researchers and to strengthening scientific dialogue between Germany and South Korea.
Young Network TransEurope (YNT)
In February 2024, Die Junge Akademie and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), together with a number of partner institutions, published the manifesto "Reclaiming Europe". The manifesto outlines the role and social responsibility of the sciences and humanities in relation to a democratic and united Europe, in particular with regard to the war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences. The signatories of the manifesto are in favour of increased scientific exchange with Eastern European countries and want to create a platform for perspectives from and on Eastern Europe with the Young Network TransEurope. The network is primarily intended to strengthen the voices of excellent young academics.
Applications for a five-year membership are open until 12 September 2025. All information can be found here.

2025
On 16 May 2025, founding members of the Young Network TransEurope (YNT) organised a study day. The aim was to facilitate critical exchange on issues surrounding the memory of the Second World War in legal debates, cultural discourses and ecological narratives. It was intended to contribute to interdisciplinary discussions between "Eastern" and "Western" Europe, which are overshadowed by the long shadow of the Second World War and the Shoah. -
2024
From 13 to 15 October 2024, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, together with the European Solidarity Centre in Gdansk, organised a conference entitled "Reclaiming Europe". The Young Network TransEurope (YNT) officially began its work with the conference. The 17 founding members – excellent young researchers from a wide range of disciplines who live and work in several European countries – will jointly explore the diversity of European perspectives in future and thus contribute to public and political debates. The Kyiv Symphony Orchestra performed the ceremonial opening of the YNT at the beginning of the conference against the backdrop of the historic shipyard.
